I just placed a huge Candles By Victoria order today (because there was 20%
off with a purchase of $50 or more, which is one of the biggest sales that
Victoria ever has) and decided that I should share what I got from the Round
Robin that I participated in with fellow members of the message boards! Take
note that I have yet to burn these scent shots and these are what I think of
the scents upon cold sniff :) I did pick up 10 different scents and a
little goody from the goody bag that we had! So, let's get started!
Palm Island- The first thing I think of when I smell this is car freshener
mixed with a bit of men's cologne. It's definitely fresh, but I feel as if I
was roaming around in Asia somewhere. Some of the notes that I pick up from the
CBV
scent descriptions are definitely the sweet orange blossoms and I wonder if
the Asian influence I'm picking up is from the yuzu? I'm not entirely sure as I
don't know what yuzu smells like. I also get a bit of juniper but it's as if
everything else gets lost in the heavy orange blossom smell I'm getting. It's
one that I like, but definitely not one of my favorite CBV scents.
Vanilla After Dark- This definitely has Victoria's classic vanilla scent
that she often incorporates into other scents. I also get the musk that she
describes. It is definitely a romantic date night smell, perhaps a bit too dark
for my liking during the day. I do get a little bit of the citrus, but just
ever so slightly. I feel like it enhances the vanilla scent to make it more
toned down than just regular vanilla. I surprisingly liked this one, not too
overpowering on the vanilla like I expected it to be.
Lavender Apple- This is my favorite scent of the bunch. It truly is what the
name suggests. It’s a perfect blend of lavender and apple that is neither too
in your face nor overbearing in any way. I find that this is a scent that calms
me down and reminds me of a stroll in the garden. It was perfect that it was in
the Round Robin box because it was going to be included in my next order! I
think that if you don’t particularly like florals, this is a good way to wade
the waters.
Lavender- This is exactly what I imagined lavender to smell like. It has
part floral, part woody notes to it. I love the color of it- as lavender is my
favorite color. (I don’t find that she has many scents with this color) Unlike
Lavender Apple, it is definitely stronger and has a more earthy/woodsy feel to
it. I really like this one too, I suppose I’m a fan of lavender scents? (I
never thought that I did like the scent of lavender) I would definitely give
this one a try, it reminds me of a garden which is something that I absolutely
love about it.
Raspberry Violet- I get a lot of the berryness of this scent at first whiff.
The raspberry jumps right out at me. The violet is a nice floral touch for this
scent. Because I’m not really fond of raspberry on its own, I feel like the
violet makes it more bearable. It has aspects of Lavender Apple in the sense of
the same fruity/floral combination here. I think that’s why I really like this
one too. It’s not overpowering in any way. Not too floral or not too fruity,
which is a combination that I really like and am drawn to.
Black Velvet- This is definitely the darkest scent I’ve ever tried by
Victoria. The first thing I smell is baby powder. It wasn’t a scent I was fond
of when I first smelt it but I was interested in how it was going to burn. I
don’t really like it all that much as it is a bit dark (well duh, Mel. Black is
in it’s name) I know, I know. But there’s something, and I’m not really sure
what, that I really like about this scent. Perhaps it’s the woodiness of it?
I’m not sure! But I’m just waiting to burn it so I can really say whether I like
this scent or not.
Vanilla Bean Noel- I love how creamy this scent smells. I immediately get
the cream and vanilla scent. I find that the caramel scent is really subdued,
but that’s exactly how I like it. I really enjoy Victoria’s mixed vanilla
scents so far. I think the caramel brings the scent down and makes it a bit
musky which is something I wasn’t expecting at all, but I find that this scent
really works! I really like it and it is definitely a crowd favorite on the
message boards!
Springdipity- I wasn’t a big fan of this scent either, but I picked it up
because I wanted to know what it would be like while it was burning. I just
really get the floral part. It’s a light and bright scent that is quite unique
but has some of the same tones of sunblock? to me. I think that that’s why I
part dislike this scent is because I loathe the scent of sunblock. However, the
other aspects of this scent are pleasant and the reason why I got it!
Sunflower- At first smell this wasn’t a scent that I thought I was going to
pick up. When I first took a whiff, I immediately thought of sunshine. I do get
really floral notes, mostly the jasmine and orange. I feel like I can feel the
rose in there somewhere, but it’s not the scent I feel is on top. I just want
to smell it when it’s burning to see if any of the rose really comes out. It’s
one of the scents that I don’t particularly like so far.
Coco Mango- This is supposed to be a blend of coconut and mango. I do get a
lot of coconut when I first smell it, and little hints of mango after. It is
more subdued than her regular coconut scent, but coconut is definitely the main
scent here. I’m a big fan of Victoria’s coconut scent so it doesn’t really
bother me that this is more coconut than mango. However, I still do wish that I
could get more mango in there as I also love the smell of mangos. There’s a
certain sweetness in the scent that I pick up that I know is from the mango. I
hope that when I burn this more of the mango will show itself.
Totally reminds
me of a tropical getaway, which makes it perfect for the summer time!
And for my little goody: I picked up a little chunk of a CBV Bath and Body
soap by Victoria’s lovely daughter, Melissa. It is in the scent Rock That
Vanilla, which is a very clean vanilla scent. The soap seemed to have come from
a bar-type soap instead of a round or funky shaped one and has a black bar at
the bottom with white at the top and marbling in the middle that infuses both
the colors. I can’t wait to try this out! The scent is amazing, but one thing
I’m concerned with is how long it’ll last on my body.
Tell me if you think there are any scents I should try!
